MasterImage 3D announced a partnership with Cinemaxx, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s Lippo Group, to provide 3D cinema systems to support Cinemaxx’s rollout of cineplexes across Indonesia.

Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group is a leading property developer with significant investment in retailing, media, hospitality, financial services, energy, IT, healthcare and education. Cinemaxx, the latest addition to Lippo Group’s entertainment business, plans to expand the film exhibition industry in Indonesia by opening over 1,000 new screens over the next five years, with 3D as a prominent component of that experience. Cinemaxx will install its first MasterImage 3D systems in June 2014.

Cinemaxx will use the MasterImage 3D MI-HORIZON3D digital-cinema system, which uses a three-beam optical system that eliminates discrepancies between pass-through light and reflected light to create high-brightness 3D with greater clarity and uniformity than two-way beam systems.

“Indonesia is a tremendously engaged market for premium 3D viewing experiences with a fast-growing middle class and tech-savvy youth population,” said Ray Seok, VP of digital cinema at MasterImage 3D. “Cinemaxx is highly motivated and well-equipped to capitalize on this opportunity and we are honored to be their partner over the next few years in bringing the best premium 3D experience.”
