Surrounding Asia-Pacific: Dolby Atmos immersive audio finds a warm reception
Dolby introduced its Dolby Atmos immersive audio format in June 2012 with the release of Disney and Pixar’s Brave. Today, the number of Dolby Atmos screens installed or committed to has topped 1,000. The Asia-Pacific region has been especially receptive to the new sound format, with more than 680 screens installed or pending.
Here’s a country-by-country breakdown of Dolby Atmos installations, with comments from key exhibition players in each territory:
More than 30 Chinese titles have been released in Dolby Atmos, and eight mixing facilities in greater China are now Dolby Atmos-enabled.

“Ever since we installed Dolby Atmos at Jinyi Cinemas’ Zhongguancun location in Beijing, the moviegoing experience has improved, with the sound quality one step ahead of our competitors. We differentiated ourselves from other cinemas and soon gained credibility in the market. After the installation of Dolby Atmos in Hall 5, the box office of this screen was 10 to 15% higher and the attendance over 15% higher than our other screens in the same location.”

More than 110 Bollywood and Indian regional titles have been mixed for Dolby Atmos.There are ten Dolby Atmos-enabled mixing facilities in India.

Japan has five Dolby Atmos-enabled mixing facilities.

Eight Korean titles have been released in Dolby Atmos, and four Dolby Atmos-enabled mixing facilities have been established.

Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand
Eleven local titles have been released in Dolby Atmos in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand (a total of 18 titles if you include Hollywood and Chinese titles mixed in this region). The region has five Dolby Atmos-enabled mixing facilities.
