CineEurope to honor Disney's Dave Hollis

CineEurope will present its 2013 “International Distributor of the Year” award to Dave Hollis, executive VP, theatrical exhibition sales and distribution, The Walt Disney Studios, at the exhibitor convention’s awards ceremony on June 27.

“It is a great honor for CineEurope to be able to single Dave out for all he has done throughout his career as a respected and admired distribution executive,” stated Robert Sunshine, executive cirector of the event. “You could not ask for a more dedicated leader whose passion and commitment to both his company and the industry have helped bring quality films to so many moviegoers around the world.”

Hollis is responsible for The Walt Disney Studios’ global motion-picture sales and distribution efforts for all motion pictures released under the Disney, Pixar, Disneynature, Marvel, Touchstone Pictures and Lucasfilm banners. An 11-year Disney veteran, he collaborates with exhibition, filmmakers, production partners and the broader Disney enterprise to launch film product in movie theatres around the world.

Hollis was previously senior VP of distribution for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International, where he was responsible for the growing sales and distribution operation across 70 countries. He has overseen the distribution of such blockbusters as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Cars 2, Brave, Wreck-It Ralph, Marvel’s The Avengers (the third-biggest film of all time) and Iron Man 3. He has also served as senior VP, distribution strategy, helping develop and implement profit-optimization strategies across the various businesses of The Walt Disney Studios.

The official convention of the Union Internationale des Cinémas/International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), CineEurope will take place June 24-27 at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona (CCIB) in Barcelona, Spain.
