Imax, Warner Bros. Pictures Sign Another 20-Picture Deal
Nov 15, 2012
TORONTO - Imax and Warner Bros. Pictures have extended their long-standing partnership with a deal to release up to 20 of the Hollywood studio’s films over the next three years.
Warner Bros. since 2003 has turned to Imax’s super-sized screens to help release its tentpole pictures.
The giant screen exhibitor and Warner Bros. in 2010 unveiled a similar 20-film release deal, which included Dark Shadows, Batman 3 and Superman, all to be released through 2012.
The latest titles to be digitally remastered and released on on the Imax platform next year are Jack the Giant Slayer, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, 300: Rise of an Empire, Gravity; Seventh Son, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug for Christmas 2013.
"Together with Imax and our exhibitor partners, we have built a unique, incremental distribution platform over the last 10 years," Dan Fellman, president, domestic distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, said Thursday in a statement.
Imax has similar multi-film deals with DreamWorks Animation and Walt Disney.
