ShowEast honors Moving iMage Technologies' Phil Rafnson

Phil Rafnson, chairman of Moving iMage Technologies (MiT), will be honored with a Special Award of Achievement at ShowEast 2013 in Hollywood, Florida.

“I can’t think of a more deserving individual in our industry to receive this award than Phil,” stated ShowEast co-managing director Robert Sunshine. “In the world of cinema equipment, Phil’s work in the industry is unparalleled.”

“Phil has given strong and thoughtful guidance to MiT that has allowed us to achieve ten years of great success in the cinema market,” declared Thomas Lipiec, the company's VP of sales and customer service. “Phil’s business experience and insight, plus his kind attitude, have greatly influenced the direction and growth of MiT and we are very thankful for his efforts. We are very happy to hear that Phil will be receiving this prestigious award at ShowEast 2013.”

Phil Rafnson has been a major participant in the cinema equipment business for over 40 years, from a sound engineer for Northwest Sound and RCA Service Co., to national sales manager for Xetron Inc., to president and owner of Media Technology Source, the largest cinema equipment distribution company in the world. In 1999 he sold MTS and in 2003 he funded the startup of Moving iMage Technologies and ever since has been its partner and chairman. He served as a board member of the International Theatre Equipment Association for 12 years and officer and president for more than four years. He also served for many years on the board and as president of Variety of the Northwest and as a board member of Courage Center in Minneapolis.

Moving iMage Technologies is a hybrid manufacturer and high-level distributor of technology and equipment to support a wide variety of entertainment applications, with a focus on motion picture exhibition. They offer a wide range of products and services such as custom engineering, systems design, integration and installation, digital technology solutions for 3D, digital cinema, pre-feature onscreen advertising and audiovisual integration, as well as customized solutions for emerging entertainment technology.

ShowEast 2013 will take place Oct. 21-24, 2013 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida. It will feature screenings of major upcoming holiday films, sponsored events, timely seminars and a trade show.
