ShowEast to honor Mexico's Attorney General for anti-piracy efforts
Sept 19, 2012
“Marisela has made great strides in the fight against movie piracy throughout her distinguished career in legal services and law enforcement and justly deserves this award,” stated Robert Sunshine, executive director of ShowEast
Since 1988, Morales Ibáñez has devoted her professional career to law enforcement, holding various positions both in the Office of the Attorney General for Justice of the Federal District and the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic. Her previous appointments include General Investigative Coordinator, Chief of the Specialized Investigative Unit for Crimes Committed by Public Officials and Against the Administration of Justice, and Assistant Attorney General for Specialized Organized Crime Investigation.
Morales Ibañez has been the Attorney General of the Republic since April 2011. She became the first woman in that institution’s history to hold this position.
Morales Ibañez has received various awards during her service as a legal professional and in law enforcement, including the International Woman of Courage Award, given to her by the United States government. Another honorary award is the Direction of Criminal Investigation and Interpol Medal granted by the Republic of Columbia. This award was granted for her outstanding collaboration in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.
ShowEast 2012 will take place Nov. 5-8 and will feature screenings of upcoming major holiday films, sponsored events, seminars and a tradeshow. An estimated 1,300 members of the motion picture industry are expected to attend.
