Arts Alliance merges event cinema businesses

June 18, 2014

Arts Alliance Ventures will merge its existing cinema content businesses into a single integrated company to capitalize on the growing global market for event cinema.

The move will consolidate Arts Alliance’s position as a leading financier, distributor and marketer of event cinema worldwide. Operating under the consumer-facing brand of Arts Alliance, the new business will absorb the successful music and arts-focused production and production finance company Mr Wolf Presents, as well as incorporating the existing cinema booking, content distribution and marketing services operation which previously sat inside sister company and leading cinema software company Arts Alliance Media.

Mark Foster has been appointed CEO of the new business. He comes to Arts Alliance from on-demand music-streaming service Deezer, where he was managing director of the U.K. and Ireland. All the current event cinema team members from both Mr Wolf and AAM will transition into the new business and further appointments will be made over the coming weeks.

John Woodward, chairman of Arts Alliance, said, “The arrival of Mark Foster as the CEO of the newly integrated business is a watershed moment for us. Mark’s expertise and experience developing new business and marketing models for the content sector make him the ideal person to lead the business. In addition, the consolidation process announced today also means that for the first time the music and arts-based production sector will be able to deal with a well-resourced one-stop-shop which will provide finance, production support, worldwide distribution, marketing budgets and campaign execution.”

Foster stated, “I am delighted to be joining Arts Alliance at a time when event cinema is a growing business, reaching out to new consumers, particularly for the arts. I am passionate about working with our new and future partners to create exciting new, multi-dimensional content in all genres, from opera and ballet through dynamic exhibitions and theatre productions to rock and pop events, growing our global distribution network and supporting them with innovative marketing. We have a committed and enthusiastic team at Arts Alliance, and this new company structure will enable us to continue to develop, market and distribute world-class shows to audiences around the world.”

Hunger Games - Mockingjay Pt 1
Film Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Darker, less action-packed first half of the final installment of the popular franchise moves from arenas to rubble aplenty as Jennifer Lawrence’s super-heroine is called upon to serve her beleaguered and much-destroyed nation as propaganda instrument and leader. Fans of the books and previous two films get a less flashy palette here, but the engaging characters and strong story return to stir interest for the scheduled November 2015 finale. More »
