MovieTickets.com reports 63.5% rise in first quarter

As Q1 comes to a close, MovieTickets.com, a leading provider of advance movie ticketing, reported the number of tickets sold by the company are up 63.5% compared to the same time period last year.

While MovieTickets.com found its total first-quarter data for 2014 way up, the number of tickets sold rose a whopping 95% in February alone when compared to February 2013.

MovieTickets.com credits its growth to a combination of a strong box office, including Warner Bros. Pictures’ The LEGO Movie, Universal Pictures’ Ride Along and an extended advance ticketing effort for Summit Entertainment’s Divergent, plus mobile activity, more reserved-seating locations and the addition of over 5,000 screens so far in 2014.
