Alamo Drafthouse presents 'Snowpiercer' train excursion

June 17, 2014

The Alamo Drafthouse is presenting another unique “Rolling Roadshow” adventure. On June 21, their guests will roll out to Burnet, Texas, aboard a vintage steam train to watch an exclusive advance screening of the sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer, with director Bong Joon Ho in attendance.

The latest from the acclaimed director of The Host and Mother, Snowpiercer is set in a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off all life on the planet except for a lucky few that boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that perpetually travels around the globe. A class system has evolved aboard the train, fiercely dividing its population, and revolution brews. Starring Chris Evans, Song Kang Ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, John Hurt and Ed Harris, the RADiUS-TWC release opens in theatres on June 27th.

Guests will get a taste of life aboard a speeding train—albeit in much more comfort—with a ride to and from the screening on the Hill Country Flyer Steam Train. Boarding begins at 5:30 p.m. The train will depart from Cedar Park, Texas, promptly at 6 p.m. and arrives in Burnet at 7:45 p.m. The screening will take place under the stars, after sundown at 8:45 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for sale at the screening.

Bong Joon Ho will be on hand to introduce the film and for a post-show Q&A. Alamo CEO and founder Tim League will host the event.

Hunger Games - Mockingjay Pt 1
Film Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Darker, less action-packed first half of the final installment of the popular franchise moves from arenas to rubble aplenty as Jennifer Lawrence’s super-heroine is called upon to serve her beleaguered and much-destroyed nation as propaganda instrument and leader. Fans of the books and previous two films get a less flashy palette here, but the engaging characters and strong story return to stir interest for the scheduled November 2015 finale. More »
