Carmike to debut 13-plex in Colorado Springs

Carmike Cinema will open the Carmike 13 entertainment complex in the Colorado Springs Chapel Hills Mall on Dec. 19 with a special fundraising event benefiting Ronald McDonald House. All proceeds from the discounted $2 movie tickets, $2 popcorn and $2.00 drink specials will benefit the charity.

Carmike’s BigD entertainment experience at this location features a screen measuring over 80 feet wide and three stories tall, leather high-back rocking seats, and a seating capacity for close to 600 guests. The BigD’s digital large screen is powered by Christie Brilliant 3D flash projector with light output of 30,000 lumens.

Carmike is also unveiling a new IMAX theatre at its Carmike 15 at 5555 Whittlesey Blvd. in Columbus, GA, in time for the Dec. 13 opening of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The complex also features a Carmike BigD auditorium.
