RealD equips first screens in Kazakhstan

Aug 22, 2014

RealD entered the Kazakhstan market for the first time after securing a deal with leading cinema circuit Chaplin Cinemas. The agreement will see RealD’s 3D technology installed in seven cinema screens across Chaplin Mango Cinema (two screens) and new flagship multiplex Chaplin Mega Park (five screens), with the first of the screens expected to open later this month.

Robert Mayson, managing director of RealD Europe, commented, “Eastern Europe continues to be a growth market, with 3D total box-office revenue rising from $417 million in 2012 to $532 million in 2013. Kazakhstan has the potential to contribute to these figures and RealD is committed to meeting this demand for quality 3D cinema in the region for years ahead.”

RealD 3D is installed in approximately 25,600 auditoriums by approximately 1,000 exhibitors in 73 countries around the world (as of June 30, 2014).
