The Thurso Cinema in Caithness, the U.K. mainland’s northernmost
cinema, signed a Virtual Print Fee (VPF) deal with Sony Digital
Cinema. The independent theatre, which recently reopened, will have
two SRX-R515 4K cinema projectors installed toward the end of
February.
The Thurso Cinema will now have the ability to offer new services
beyond traditional content, such as comedy, sports, music, theatre,
opera, multi-user big-screen gaming and cultural events. The cinema
already has National Theatre Live, Royal Opera House and British
Museum Live content in the pipeline.
Rob Arthur, managing director of The Thurso Cinema, commented:
“Bringing digital cinema to Caithness is a big deal, as we can now
offer a range of entertainment content that appeals to a broader
audience and ensures that the cinema is in use all day, every day
