Barco introduces CinemaBarco showmanship initiative for theatres

March 14, 2014

Leading digital-cinema company Barco is introducing CinemaBarco, which it describes as “a rich and diverse array of entertainment experiences which will allow exhibitors and storytellers to reinvent the moviegoing experience for a new generation.” Barco promises, “You won't just go to the movies, you'll go into the movies!

“We are bringing cinema into the future with bold strokes, big ideas and the showmanship we remember fondly from our childhood. CinemaBarco delivers an experience that people can’t get in their home theatres, enticing them into the cinema for a special event,” comments Todd Hoddick, Barco’s VP of global entertainment.

CinemaBarco aims to bring every part of the theatre to life, delivering visually striking and immersive entertainment before, during and after the show. From the lobby to the auditorium and beyond, exhibitors can outfit their cinemas with innovative solutions that feature built-in revenue-enhancement opportunities and help them grow their business.

Says Hoddick, “By employing the latest audience engagement, interactive lobby technology and immersive entertainment solutions, exhibitors can create an environment that attracts a highly engaged community of moviegoers. CinemaBarco enables theatre owners to capture more of the entertainment dollar by delivering a value-added experience far beyond the traditional movie date.”

Barco’s “lobby enchantment” solutions deliver the impact of sight, sound and social media to immediately immerse guests into environments that digitally transform the lobby to promote movies, stories and images. Upon entering the theatre, audiences will be surrounded by an immersive theatrical experience delivering experiential imagery, massive visual stimuli and iconic brand advertising.

As the opening movie credits roll, audiences will experience Barco’s new laser projection and Auro 11.1 immersive cinema sound system. Emerging audience-engagement apps will allow patrons to immediately share their moviegoing experience via social media. Their feedback can be captured via exhibitor apps and surveys, providing valuable impressions and other customer feedback to fuel future promotions.

Barco will be hosting demonstrations of the CinemaBarco Experience from March 25-27 at Cinemark Century 16 South Point and XD. Multiple sessions are available, with bus transportation provided. Visitors can register for a session at this website.

Barco will also showcase several of its theatre-wide cinema entertainment solutions in booth #2313A at CinemaCon from March 24-27 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
