D-Box motion seats coming to Japan

Feb 5, 2010

D-Box Technologies announced the upcoming installation of 13 D-Box MFX seats with Warner Mycal Corp., one of the largest theatre circuits in Japan. The transaction marks the first sale of D-Box motion systems for commercial theatre applications outside of North America.

“The Japanese market is huge and their consumers are usually very savvy of new and exciting technologies,” said Claude Mc Master, D-Box’s president and CEO. “A presence in Japan will provide for a great technological showcase in a market that offers great long-term potential.”

“We intend to deploy 13 [D-Box] systems at Warner Mycal Cinemas Ohdaka as part of a new state-of-the-art 10-screen, 1,923-seat multiplex which will open next March 23 in Nagoya,” stated Millard L. Ochs, president and representative director of Warner Mycal Corp. “More specifically, we intend to equip theatre #10 with a RealD digital 3D system and with D-Box MFX seats, allowing our customers a new and completely immersive cinema experience.”

D-Box recently announced an agreement with Cinéma Carrefour du Nord, located in the Montreal suburb of St-Jérôme, a Montreal suburb, to fully equip an auditorium with 46 D-Box MFX seats, the first full D-Box installation.

D-Box’s 11th motion-enhanced movie, From Paris with Love, debuted on Feb. 5.
