'The Impossible' chooses imm 3D immersive sound

April 17, 2012

The Impossible, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, is the first feature film to employ imm sound’s 3D immersive sound technology in its post-production phase.

imm sound breaks away from the concept of channels and other limiting factors associated with the analog era and adds a vertical layer. imm’s 3D sound system is compatible with all sound systems currently in use.

Director Bayona says imm’s immersive 3D technology provides The Impossible with “a spectacular sound that allows the audience to become completely involved in the story. It is very exciting to be able to use imm sound’s immersive 3D sound system, which realistically reflects the authentic depth and intensity of sound in The Impossible.” The film is a drama about the tsunami that hit the coast of Thailand in December 2004.
