Ted Schilowitz joins Barco as 'CinemaVangelist'

March 19, 2014

Barco is bringing technology innovator Ted Schilowitz onto its team as a “CinemaVangelist" to spearhead innovation. The collaboration will center around the launch of CinemaBarco, which aims to bring classic Hollywood showmanship back to theatres.

“Ted brings a refreshing, childlike enthusiasm combined with his unique brand of disruption toward our efforts in creating new, exhilarating and communal entertainment experiences,” commented Todd Hoddick, Barco’s VP, global entertainment. “Best of all, he reminds us just how much we can achieve when we kick our mutual talents into high gear, and have fun doing it! What we have to show you at Cinemacon is a result of all that good work.”

The CinemaBarco concept offers storytelling moments that can be implemented throughout the cinema to create a compelling user experience that starts as soon as moviegoers enter the lobby.

“Todd and I have been breaking new ground together for years in our collaboration between Barco and Red Digital Cinema, where we’ve showed off the wonders of ultra-high-resolution movie images using the best-of-breed 4K digital-cinema projection systems from Barco,” Schilowitz stated. “The Barco team and I share a powerful vision for the future of cinema, one that will be exponentially more entertaining, more captivating, and more thrilling than the typical moviegoing experience. We can’t wait for audiences to experience our vision at CinemaCon.”

“Without revealing what we’ve been working on, I’ve had an opportunity to spend time at Barco’s labs in Belgium, and I can tell you it’s going to be something really worth seeing in a proper movie theatre in Las Vegas during CinemaCon,” Schilowitz continued. It’s even too big and radical to contain in Caesars Palace, so we are inviting guests to join us to witness the real thing, at a real movie theatre near the convention site.”

Schilowitz and the rest of the Barco team will unveil the CinemaBarco Experience with demonstration sessions hosted by Barco March 25-27 at the Cinemark Century 16 South Point and XD. Multiple sessions are available, with bus transportation provided. Visitors can register for a session at this website.

Barco will also showcase several of its cinema entertainment solutions in booth 2313A at CinemaCon.
