Dolby plays supporting role in Oscar audio races

March 5, 2010

Dolby audio technologies play a role in all films nominated for Academy Awards in the sound editing and sound mixing categories. This marks 32 consecutive years that films released with Dolby audio technologies have earned Oscar nominations for outstanding sound quality.

"Dolby congratulates the talented sound mixers and editors nominated for this year’s Academy Awards," said Page Haun, senior director, marketing, for Dolby’s cinema segment. "Dolby is honored to work alongside these masters of audio as we strive to develop new audio innovations and give them the tools to excel at their trade."

Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds and Star Trek are competing in both categories. Up is the fifth nominee in the sound editing race, while Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen joins the sound mixing contest.
