Reading Entertainment adds Dolby Atmos at Geelong cinema

Reading Entertainment became the first movie exhibitor in Australia to install the Dolby Atmos™ cinema sound platform. The first Dolby Atmos film to play at Reading is Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, at Reading Cinemas Waurn Ponds, Geelong, in the Titan XC Extreme Cinema.
 
“Adoption of innovative technology is a key objective for us in order to remain competitive in the fast-paced entertainment industry,” said Wayne Smith, Reading’s managing director, Australia and New Zealand. “Dolby Atmos is a proven system that we believe delivers an unsurpassed moviegoing experience to our customers. With 55 surround sound speakers and the latest in digital projection, we are very excited about launching our new concept.”


Also in Australia, the continent’s largest independent post-production company, Soundfirm, will be the first facility in Australia to be fully equipped to meet the post-production needs for Dolby Atmos cinema sound. Soundfirm’s new facility in Melbourne has been designed from the ground up with the latest tools, technology and equipment to support the needs of the content creation industry as they aim to create immersive audio experiences for moviegoers with the help of Dolby Atmos technology.
