Memphis-based Malco Theatres, a 102 year-old family-owned motion picture exhibition company, announced today that guests visiting the Paradiso Cinema Grill in Memphis, TN and the Razorback Cinema Grill in Fayetteville, AR will, starting on December 15, 2017, be able to enjoy the IMAX experience. The theatres' new IMAX screens will be custom designed for use in the existing multiplex theatres and will premiere with the release of Walt Disney Studios’ Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The new IMAX at the Paradiso Cinema Grill and the Razorback Cinema Grill will offer moviegoers a truly immersive cinematic experience, allowing them to enjoy the biggest blockbusters like never before. IMAX’s cutting-edge projection system, which delivers crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Select sequences of Star Wars: The Last Jedi were shot using IMAX cameras, the highest-resolution cameras in the world. Exclusively in IMAX, these sequences will expand to fill the entire screen with unprecedented image quality and present more of the image than standard theatres – providing a truly immersive experience. The remainder of the film will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

“We looked at all of our options regarding a large format solution and came to the conclusion that no one has a better combination of quality, full immersion cinema, and brand awareness than IMAX. We are excited to add The IMAX Experience to these two already great theatres,” said Stephen Lightman, Malco President/CEO.

“We are excited to welcome Malco Theatres to the IMAX business, and together look forward to introducing the world’s most immersive cinema going experience to new audiences across Tennessee, Arkansas and the Mid-South,” said Mark Welton, President, IMAX Theatres.
