NCM names John Barry sales planning exec

John Barry has joined National CineMedia (NCM) as senior VP, sales planning, inventory and analysis, based in NCM’s New York office. He will report to Adam Johnson, senior VP, operations and planning.

Prior to joining NCM, Barry held various senior leadership positions over 18 years at Discovery Communications, most recently serving as senior VP, advertising sales, driving revenue across all brands with primary responsibility for TLC, Discovery Fit and Health, and the HUB Networks. Before joining Discovery, Barry’s advertising and media career also included work at CBS, NBC, Nabisco and BBDO. 

Barry is the second Discovery executive to join the U.S.’ leading cinema-advertising network this year, following Scott Felenstein, who was named NCM’s executive VP and chief revenue officer in April.
