Veteran exhibitor Charles Dunn dies at 80

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation announced the passing of Charles W. Dunn, 80, on April 27. He was the father of longtime Foundation board member Greg Dunn.

Employed for over 40 years in the entertainment industry, Charles Dunn worked with several movie theatre companies including AMC, Redstone Theaters, Crown Amusements and Goodrich Theaters. He was a manager and later district manager and worked in Dallas, Omaha and Cincinnati, but always considered Jefferson City, MO his home. While in Jefferson City, Dunn managed the Bridge Drive-In in Cedar City, the Downtown Capitol Theater, and opened the Ramada 4 Theaters, Capital 4 Theater in the Mall and Capital 8 Theaters. He also opened the Hollywood Theater in Columbia, MO. He retired as district manager of the central Missouri Goodrich theaters in 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Dunn; son Greg W. Dunn and his wife Jennifer, son Gary S. Dunn, and daughter Lori A. Armour and her husband Cary; his sister, Dorothy Holcomb; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
