4DX announces three Cinemacity locations to open in Saudi Arabia

CJ 4DPLEX signed a new partnership with Cinemacity, among the first theatre circuits to enter Saudi Arabia Three 4DX motion-seating and effects locations will open in the country’s capital city, Riyadh, and other major Saudi cities by the end of this year.

Al Qasr Mall will be the first multiplex in Riyadh, featuring 19 screens and expecting an average of 750,000 admissions during its first year of operation.

Cinemacity’s parent company, Xclusive Cinemas SAL Holding, says it will operate 116 screens by the end of 2018 in five countries including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

We are proud to partner with 4DX and provide patrons with 4DX’s state-of-the-art immersive entertainment systems that will distinguish us in the market, and add to our brand as a whole,” said Karim Atassi, VP of business development at Cinemacity.

CJ 4DPLEX also announced a new partnership with Silverbird Cinemas, which will bring the first 4DX site to Nigeria. The 4DX theatre will be located at the exhibitor’s Ikeja location—the highest-grossing cinema in West Africa. The second 4DX site will open in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

Silverbird has 10 locations across Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana, and currently holds 60-percent market share in Nigeria.
