Paramount Pictures International appointed Ian George as the new executive VP of international marketing, to be based at PPI’s headquarters in Chiswick, London. The announcement was made by PPI president Andrew Cripps. George will take up his new duties in the fall.

George has been the managing director for 20th Century Fox U.K. for the last four years, where he oversaw the record-breaking release of Avatar. Prior to that, he spent seven years with leading U.K. mini-studio Pathé, where he oversaw the marketing and distribution of over 20 films per year. He also spent five years as marketing director for Warner Bros. U.K., and worked for ad agencies Grey Entertainment and Media and FCO.

Cripps said, “We are delighted to have someone as talented and passionate about marketing movies join the very experienced team at PPI. Ian joins Paramount at an exciting time with a great slate of films set for release over the next 12 months.”

PPI announced that Jon Anderson, the current executive VP of marketing, will leave at the end of 2010 to return to his native Australia. Anderson has headed up the marketing function for PPI since its inception in 2007 and has presided over two consecutive record-breaking years for the studio. “We thank Jon for his tremendous contributions to both the establishment and the success of PPI over the past four years and wish him nothing but continued success as he relocates back to Australia,” Cripps said.
