St. Jude announces trailer campaign
Famed entertainer Danny Thomas founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1962. Many of his friends in Hollywood raised funds and awareness to help him fulfill his dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” Since opening, St. Jude has changed how the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. One child saved at St. Jude means thousands more are saved worldwide, as research discoveries from the labs are speedily shared with patients and doctors everywhere.
In 2004, Thomas’ daughter Marlo, national outreach director for St. Jude, reached out to the theatre industry, asking them to continue the Hollywood tradition of caring by joining the first annual St. Jude “Thanks and Giving®” campaign. Industry leaders including Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark USA, Carmike Cinemas and many others bring the campaign to life during the holidays by donating pre-show advertising to air the St. Jude trailer, letting moviegoers everywhere know that St. Jude is a place of hope.
