Fandango in Deal With Veezi to Offer Thousands of Independent Theaters Online TicketingThe deal comes a day after the NBCU-owned company extended an exclusive deal with Cinemark USA.
Fandango said Tuesday that it struck a deal with Veezi that will give thousands of independent theater operators the ability to offer customers online and mobile ticketing.
The deal comes one day after Fandango said it extended an exclusive relationship with Cinemark USA for 4,400 screens, which will keep Fandango at about 22,000 screens across the country.
Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, a division of NBCUniversal, said the Veezi deal will help independent theater owners increase their sales.
"It's also a big win for movie fans across the country who, with the convenience of Fandango, can now buy local theater tickets in advance online or from their mobile devices," Yanover said.
"With Fandango, every U.S. exhibitor, regardless of size, will have the opportunity to sell tickets online and via mobile at the click of a button," said Matthew Preen, head of Veezi for Vista Entertainment Solutions.
Fandango said Monday it had a record-breaking year in 2013, including a 57 percent surge in mobile ticket sales.
Fandango did not disclose terms of its deals with Cinemark or with Veezi.
